The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW)
dictates the curriculum of Hunter Education Course at Sumner Sportsmen's
Association (SSA).
The final class for this calendar year is July.

Basic Hunter
Education Program
Washington
State law requires all individuals born after 1 January 1972 to show
proof of basic hunter education training before purchasing a hunting
license. There is now a once in a lifetime option available Hunter
Education Deferral. Applications are available online or contact
WDFW. Classes are offered
year-round and interested individuals are encouraged to enroll in
classes as early as possible. Summer and fall classes fill up rapidly
and there may not be available spaces for late season classes.
The chief instructor at
SSA is Don Hawkins he has some the best instructors who assist in the
hunter education program. Some of his instructors are Steve
Baginski, Nike Holly, Ron Rainwater, and Roy Hickman. Additional
Hunter Education Instructors are: Mike Donathan, Mike Gleason, and Jim
Reinbold. The classes
are usually held on the third weekend of the month from January through
July. The final class for this calendar year is July and it is
full. The
classes are held on Friday from 6-9 pm, Saturday from 8 am-4 pm, and
Sunday from 8:30 am-11 am.
The Sunday class includes a field course and a live fire opportunity. |
