 (Membership Benefits)

 Dear Shooters:

The Board of Directors here at Sumner Sportsmen’s Association (SSA) would like to extend an invitation to join our club.  Membership at SSA can enhance your shooting abilities.  The cost of membership is $50 per year, with an initial $25 set-up fee. There are many benefits to joining our club.

SSA club members are given the opportunity to shoot at reduced prices.  Non-members pay $4.50 per round of 25 targets for trap, but members only pay $3.75 per round.  Additionally, members qualify to purchase punch cards for $3.25 per round.  Punch cards are sold for 5, 10, and 20 round punches.  Members can save either 75¢ or $1.25 per round of trap.  The cost savings after purchasing two 20-round punch cards equals the cost of membership.  Those shooters who prefer to shoot at the 5-stand, pay $5 per round if they are non-members and $4.50 per round if they are members.  Members have the privilege of purchasing a 10-round punch card for the 5-stand at $37.50.  This savings will allow members to shoot multiple rounds and not have a need to bring money each time.

Other benefits of becoming a member of SSA include the opportunity to join fellow members for shotgun shooting sports.  Our club hosts a variety of shoots throughout the year and members are always welcome to volunteer their time to help.  Sometimes just knowing we have members who are willing to help can ease the stress of putting on a shoot.  At our PITA shoots we need someone to put the squad numbers on the “On Deck” sign.  This allows shooters to know when it is their turn to shoot.  The trap houses also need to have cases of targets loaded for the event.  At our Sporting Clays shoots we need people to help with setting up the course prior to the event.  It isn’t necessary to be familiar with target setting to move cords, gun racks, and buckets for empty hulls, targets and machines to various stations.  The target setting is actually done by the shoot director, but it helps to have support personnel to assist in the set up.  When club members assist in the set up and take down for a shoot it is an excellent time for camaraderie.  There is a sense of belonging and fellowship.

Whether you choose to become a member of SSA or just enjoy shooting at our club, we appreciate your support.  The Board of Directors of Sumner Sportsmen’s Association hopes you will continue to enjoy this unique recreational resource.

 Sincerely,

Sumner Sportsmen’s Association
